Mechanical repairs

Everything from routine servicing through to major mechanical work, quoted before we start and carried out by qualified mechanics in our Belmont workshop.

Batteries & charging

Flat batteries rarely fail without warning. We test the battery, the alternator and the starter together, because a battery that keeps going flat is often a charging fault rather than a dead battery.

  • Battery and charging-system testing
  • Battery supply and fitting
  • Alternator and starter motor repairs
  • Parasitic drain fault finding

Engine

From oil leaks and timing components through to cooling system work and major repairs. We diagnose first and quote before we start, so you are not paying to replace parts that were never the problem.

  • Timing belts and chains
  • Oil and coolant leak repairs
  • Cooling systems, thermostats and water pumps
  • Cylinder head and major engine work

Lights & auto electrical

Wiring faults are where most workshops give up. We trace them properly rather than swapping parts and hoping, which usually works out cheaper for you in the end.

  • Headlights, tail lights and globes
  • Wiring and short-circuit fault finding
  • Sensors, switches and dash warning lights
  • Air conditioning diagnosis and regas

Brakes

We measure what is left on the pads and rotors before quoting, so you replace what is genuinely worn rather than the whole system.

  • Brake pads and rotor replacement
  • Calipers, hoses and brake lines
  • Brake fluid replacement
  • Handbrake adjustment and repair

Suspension & steering

The usual cause of a car that wanders, knocks over bumps, or chews out a set of tyres early. Worth checking before you buy new tyres, not after.

  • Shock absorbers and struts
  • Bushes, ball joints and tie rod ends
  • Power steering repairs
  • Wheel alignment

How we handle a repair

1

Quality parts

We fit parts that meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specification. Where there is a genuine choice between a genuine part and a quality aftermarket equivalent, we will tell you the difference in price and in expected life, and let you decide.

2

Quoted before we start

No work begins without your approval. If we open something up and find more than we expected, we stop, ring you, and talk it through before going further.

3

Road tested before it goes back

Every car is checked and road tested before we hand the keys over. If a repair was meant to fix a noise or a vibration, we make sure it actually has.

4

Records kept

We keep a record of what was done and what we recommend next. That history makes future diagnosis faster, and it is worth real money when you come to sell.
